The Fulda Children's Academy is the first independent children's museum in Germany. Its aim is to bring people into contact with art and culture, natural sciences and technology at a young age.

Museum and Academy

Organizationally, the Fulda Children's Academy is divided into the areas of museum and academy. The museum shows in the permanent exhibition u. a. a walkable heart and marble runs by Pierre Andrès. There are usually at least three special exhibitions per year: a spring exhibition ( rabbit tracks - from rabbits and Easter bunnies ; from egg to chick ) and two art exhibitions. In the academy area, workshops take place as ongoing courses during school time and as vacation programs under professional guidance. As an additional offer, there will be events in the spring as part of the “Children's University”. Children, young people and also adults should receive impulses for the concept of lifelong learning . The children's academy has around 50,000 visitors annually. As a non-profit organization, it depends on donations.

History, organization

The Children's Academy Fulda was founded in 1991 by Helen Bonzel based on the idea of ​​the Boston Children's Museum . It is located in a former and converted industrial building, which today covers around 2000 square meters. The "Association for the Promotion of the Children's Academy Fulda eV" has existed since the year it was founded. a. Grants inventors' club and art school scholarships based on social criteria.
