Children's album (Детский альбом) op. 39 is a cycle of 24 pieces for piano by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky .
history
In the summer of 1878 Tchaikovsky wrote his children's album . "I would like to compose a number of small, easy solo pieces, which, following the example of Schumann, have enticing titles for children," the composer explained in a letter dated April 30th . / May 12, 1878 greg. to his patron Nadezhda von Meck . He was referring to Robert Schumann's album for the youth, which is well known to every piano student .
In contrast to those by Schumann, the miniatures from Tchaikovsky 's children's album are literally “child's play” to learn and their subjects are also suitable for children.
