The children railway Donetsk ( Ukrainian Мала Донецька залізниця імені В. В. Приклонського , Mala Donetsk Railways imeni WW Pryklonskoho ; Russian Малая Донецкая железная дорога имени В. В. Приклонского , Malaja Donetskaya schelesnaja doroga imeni WW Priklonskowo ) is a narrow- children rail in the Ukrainian city Donetsk . The line opened on May 19, 1972 as one of the many pioneer railroads in the Soviet Union and is still in operation today.
Route
Today the route has a length of 2.1 km. She has two stations, Pionerska (German "Pionier") and Schachtarska (German "Bergmann"). Before the Peremoha station (German for “victory”) was closed, the line was 2.9 km long. The return trip usually takes a total of 25 minutes. There is a depot where the locomotives are serviced.
history
The railway was named after Viktor Pryklonskyj, the former head of the Donetsk children's railway.
Before the Second World War , there was a children's railway called Kirow in the Central Park for Culture and Recreation named after Alexander Shcherbakov . Due to the war , the Kirov children's railway was stopped and not resumed after the war. On May 19, 1972, the Donetsk children's railway was opened as a new children's railway in the city's leisure park.

business
Like all pioneer railways in the Soviet Union, the railway in Donetsk was operated with the participation of children, that is, children worked under adult supervision in order to interest them in jobs on the railroad. An adult always worked as a train driver. As with other former pioneer railways, this educational concept has been abandoned since the end of the Soviet Union, so that the railroad is now operated by adults as a park railway.
