The children's railway Plovdiv ( Bulgarian Детска железница Пловдив, Detska schelesniza Plovdiv ) is a narrow-gauge Children's Railway in the youth Hill Park (Младежки хълм, Mladeschki Khalm ) in the second largest city of Bulgaria Plovdiv . It runs on a 1090 m long, single-track line with a track width of 600 mm between two terminal stations.

history

The railway was designed by the Transstroja Construction Department (Трансстроя) in Plovdiv under the direction of Vazil Yochkov and the Plovdiv Railway Department under the direction of Angel Dimitrov. Construction began on April 21, 1979. He was of students with the support of the residents of Plovdiv to the 35th anniversary of Dimitrov -Pionierorganisation Septemwrijtsche (ДПО Септемврийче) and for the first meeting flag of truce established (Znamya Mira, Знамя мира). The rails and wagons come from the narrow-gauge railway from Kotscherinowo to Rila Monastery, which was closed in 1954 . The cars were later replaced.

The track is 1090 m long and has a track width of 600 mm. It was opened on September 23, 1979, the annual holiday of the DPO Septemwrijche , as the children's railway of the Peace Flag. It was the second children's railway in Bulgaria (the first is in Kardzhali according to the design by Ing.Valentina Jotschkowa and is still in operation). For the opening, 25 tickets were printed and badges of honor were distributed to official guests. The children's railway was temporarily closed in 1997.

After a general overhaul based on a resolution of the local assembly, it was reopened as a children's railway on September 22, 2007. The line was repaired in 2013 and the locomotive's battery was replaced with a more powerful one, so that 6 trips per day have been possible since then.
