description

The building was constructed from 1959 to 1964 by the architects Wolfgang Hänsch and Georg Dettmar . Liselotte Filbrandt carried out the interior design. It was built as a coherent two- and three-storey building with a terrace on the first floor with open stairs and a usable area of 2141 square meters. The construction is that of a reinforced concrete skeleton . The facade is structured with wood-glass ribbon windows (grid) and parapet fields in colored mosaic. The gables of the children's department store were decorated with backlit concrete blocks. The walls were decorated with glass mosaics by Jürgen Seidel, which related to the theme of the department store.

The building owners Wolff & Müller GmbH & Co. KG had the building rebuilt.
