Walter May (Author)

Walter May (born October 19, 1937 in Zwickau ) is a German architectural historian. Among other things, he wrote specialist books and articles on the history of architecture in Saxony .

Life

May studied architecture at the Technical University of Dresden , where he on 4 February 1969, the working palace Nischwitz and architecture of the Saxon rococo doctorate . The reviewers of his work were Hans-Joachim Mrusek , Walter Hentschel and Hans Nadler . After Hentschel's death in 1970, May completed his work, Johann Christoph Knöffel . The architect of the Saxon Rococo , which appeared in 1973.

As the successor to Hans-Heinrich Richter, May was director of the Deutsche Fotothek in Dresden from 1975 to 1989 . He is a member of the board of directors of the Dresden History Association , which has published the Dresdner Hefte since 1991 . He also gives lectures and leads courses at the Dresden Adult Education Center .
