Kindkind (original title: P'tit Quinquin ) is a four-part miniseries by the French director Bruno Dumont . It was shown as part of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival 2014. The series was first broadcast on Arte on September 18, 2014 . In 2018 more stories followed with Quakquak and the Nonhumans ( Coincoin et les z'inhumains ).

The child (originally Quinquin , French child ) who lives in a village on the northern French coast is on vacation and watches with his friends as a helicopter harvests a dead cow. The investigating commissioner van der Weyden insults the curious children who ride around on bicycles, including Kindkind's best friend Eve, as “idiots”. The autopsy veterinarian finds out that the dead cow has parts of a human corpse. The body's missing head is soon found, and the body is identified as Frau Lebleu, a neighbor of Kindkind. At Frau Lebleu's funeral, Aurelie, Eve's sister, sings the song Cause I Knew .

A second dead cow is found, this time lying directly on the beach. This also contains body parts from a second person. Both victims were amorous. reception

The series received an enthusiastic response from the press and critics. The series was discussed at the Cahiers du cinéma . According to the FAZ, the miniseries is “one of the most daring of this television year”. Harald Keller describes the work in the Frankfurter Rundschau as an "uncompromisingly dark and highly comical crime fairy tale". The series has been compared several times with David Lynch's Twin Peaks series from the 1990s.
