Guillaume Deffontaines

Guillaume Deffontaines (* 1968 ) is a French cameraman .

Life

Deffontaines was born in 1968 to an architect and amateur filmmaker. His interest in film was aroused early on. He studied cinematography at the École Louis-Lumière until 1992 . He came to film in the mid-1990s, where he initially worked as first camera assistant in films by Claude Lelouch ( Les misérables , 1995) and Jean-Marie Poiré ( The Guardian Angels , 1995; The Time Knights - In Search of the Sacred Tooth, among others , 1998) was active. He often worked with cameraman Christophe Beaucarne .

The first work as a cameraman came about for television and in the short film sector. Deffontaines first feature film for the cinema, in which he worked as a cameraman, was Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieus Le voyage aux Pyrénées in 2008 . Deffontaines also stood behind the camera in the films Tout ce qui brille , Télé gaucho , Camille Claudel 1915 and Love is the perfect crime , which have won various film awards . Since 2013 he has worked several times with director Bruno Dumont . His breakthrough came with the feature film Die fein Gesellschaft , published in 2016 , for which he was nominated for a César in the category Best Cinematography in 2017 .
