King Win Laurel is a Chinese company based in Beijing .

The little-known company caused quite a stir in 2004 when it submitted a takeover bid for Australian telecom giant Telstra . However, this offer was dismissed as a joke. The company hit the headlines again in 2005 : On October 31, 2005, there was a takeover offer worth USD 450 billion for the US oil exploration company Exxon Mobil . This would be the largest attempted acquisition that has ever taken place. However, this offer is also viewed as a joke by market observers. The company is located in a suburb of Beijing and was founded specifically for the takeover of ExxonMobil.
