Kingsgate Castle
Kingsgate Castle is part of a country house above Kingsgate Bay near Broadstairs in the English county of Kent .
Henry Fox, 1st Baron Holland , had the property built in the 1760s as stables for his nearby country house, Holland House . This was the replacement for his former London residence of the same name .
Kingsgate got its name after the accidental landing of the later English King Charles II on June 30, 1683, whereby the part of the name "-gate" (dt .: gate) refers to a gap in the cliffs. Other British kings also used this stretch of coast, such as B. King George II. 1748.
John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury , later resided in the building . Today it is converted into 31 apartments.
