Kinije

Kinije ( English Qiniyeh , Kurmanji Kînîçê ) is a jesidisches village in the north of Iraq . It is located in the Sinjar district , south of the Jebel Sinjar and southeast of the capital of the same name ( Sinjar ) of the district in the Ninawa governorate . The village gained international fame in 2014 through the genocide of the Islamic State against the Yazidis.

history

On August 3, 2014, between 85 and 90 Yazidis (including twelve-year-old boys) were shot dead by IS terrorists in Kinije. These Yazidis were in a group of at least 300 other Yazidis who wanted to flee to the mountains from the IS terrorists. In the neighboring village of Kodscho , more than 600 Yazidis were barbarically killed on August 15, 2014.
