Kirchberg (also Chirchberg or Chilperg ) is a hamlet in the political municipality of Thundorf in the Swiss canton of Thurgau . It is located northwest of Thundorf on the southern slope of the Wellenberg at 600 m above sea level. M.
The core of the settlement is the Church of St. Petri, which was first mentioned in 1275. The current building dates back to the year 1484 in its oldest parts, the tower was built in 1519 and raised to its present height in 1702. A roof turret attested to in 1695 is no longer preserved. The tower roof has a steep cheesebird shape , the bell below consists of five bells, the latest of which was installed in 1954, while the other four were installed on the 16th and 17th. Century. The nave was extended to the west in 1673 and again in 1746. The interior received its current classicist shape in 1840 and was only slightly changed in 1908 during a renovation; the organ with nine registers dates from 1925.
