The Serbian Church of St. Nicholas ( Hungarian Szent Miklós Görögkeleti-szerb-templom or Rác-templom ) is an Orthodox church in the Hungarian city ​​of Eger .

history

During the time of the Turkish wars , many Serbs sought refuge in Hungary and came to Eger. From the 17th century they used the church of the Augustinian order . At the same place, today's church in plait style was built according to plans by János Povolni and with the personal permission of Emperor Joseph II . The iconostasis carved Nikola Janković 1789-1791, the images created by the Viennese painter Anton Kuchl champion.

The furnishings of the church are among the most precious of their kind in Hungary. The church is now used as a museum.
