Södra Fågelås Church

The Church of Södra Fågelås lies in the Swedish municipality of Hjo about 18 kilometers south of Hjo on the western shore of Lake Vättern .

The clapboard-clad wooden church was built in the first half of the 17th century. The interior of the church has largely retained its 17th century appearance. The ceiling paintings in the choir , the altar , the sermon chair and the baptismal font are from the 17th century. In 1942, the painter Simon Gate , who was born in the parish, donated an altarpiece to the church.

The free-standing bell tower was built in 1887.
