Skälvum Church

The Church of Skälvum located about 19 kilometers west of the Swedish city of Lidköping .

The well-preserved Romanesque church dates from the 12th century. It can be dated more or less precisely to the 1130s, as there is an inscription in the arched field above the entrance that names Othelric as the master builder. Some sculptures and the baptismal font inside the church are also attributed to Othelric.

The vault is from the 15th century and was painted in the 17th century with the acanthus ornamentation that is visible today . The altar and the sermon chair are late baroque .
