The Evangelical Lutheran Church District Hamburg-West / Südholstein consists of 55 parishes, which are looked after by 125 pastors. The church district has 235,000 parishioners.
geography
The church district is located in the western urban area of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . It also includes the areas of the Pinneberg district and the city of Norderstedt in the north and west of Hamburg . The church district belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church).
history
The Hamburg-West / Südholstein church district was re-established on May 1st, 2009. It emerges from the merger of the church districts Altona, Blankenese, Niendorf and Pinneberg. The merger was part of the North Elbian church reform. The 27 church districts of the regional church became eleven church districts at that time.
management
The church district is promoted and organized under the joint responsibility of the church district synod , church district council and provost . Thomas Drope and Karl-Heinrich Melzer are currently provosts, the third provost position is vacant. The seat of the church district Hamburg-West / Südholstein is the "House of the Church" in Hamburg-Niendorf .
Service platform kirche-hamburg.de
Since mid-2014, the church district has been in charge of all parishes in the Hamburg metropolitan area and has been running the joint service platform kirche-hamburg.de. The platform was redesigned and promoted in June 2017 and achieved an Alexa rank in the mid five-digit range within a month. The internet editorial team is represented on other social networks and is a service provider:
- for the communities in the care area when creating and designing their own websites
- for the publication of events, topics with a local church connection, as well as the networking of parishes
- Advice and qualification of church employees in the field of social media and their networking
- a joint newsletter, as well as the maintenance of databases for the own church district
