Church University of Hamburg
The Church University Hamburg was a church university sponsored by the Hamburg Evangelical Lutheran Church . It was founded in 1948 to prepare for the creation of a Protestant theological faculty at the University of Hamburg , which has existed since 1919 . When it began teaching in 1954, the Church University of Hamburg was dissolved. A large part of the teaching staff was transferred to the faculty. Volkmar Herntrich was the rector from 1949 to 1954 .
