Parish of Metelen

Until 1938, the parish of Metelen was a municipality in the Steinfurt district in what was then the province of Westphalia . Today your area belongs to the municipality of Metelen in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The community was one of the "parish communities" that occurred several times in the Münsterland and comprised the rural area around a church village .

The municipality parish Metelen enclosed the Wigbold Metelen and had an area of ​​38 km². It consisted of the peasantry Naendorf and Samberg.

history

After the Napoleonic era , the area of ​​the municipality initially belonged to the Metelen mayor in the Steinfurt district founded in 1816. With the introduction of the Westphalian rural community order in 1844, the Metelen mayor's office became the Metelen office, which included Wigbold Metelen and the parish of Metelen parish (also known as the Metelen sub-community at the time ). On April 1, 1938, Wigbold and Parish Metelen were merged to form the municipality of Metelen.
