Kyrgyz Empire

Kingdom of the Kyrgyz (840 ~ 924)

The Kyrgyz Empire was a steppe empire of the Yenisei Kyrgyz in northeastern Central Asia between the years 840 and 924.

The Kyrgyz, who lived on the Yenisei , in the Minussinsk Basin and the depression to the north, destroyed the Uyghur Kaganat in 840 and took control of this area, but did not establish a Kaganat. Allied with the Karluken , they conquered the Siebenstromland and Tuva in 840 .

The Kyrgyz sent delegations to Tang China , but did not receive the recognition they had hoped for and were unable to establish their own trade relations with China.

The Kyrgyz Empire is comparatively poorly documented.

In the first half of the 10th century, around 924, the kingdom was overrun by the Kitan and the Kyrgyz withdrew to their homeland on the Yenisei.
