Kiril Pavlikianov

Kiril Pawlikianow (also Kiril Pavlikianov, Kiril Pavlikjanov, Kyrill Pavlikianov, Cyril Pavlikianov, Bulgarian Кирил Парашкевов Павликянов ; born August 5, 1965 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian Byzantinist .

Pavlikianow studied history at the University of Sofia from 1986 to 1987 . Since 1987 he has studied history and Byzantine studies at the University of Athens and received his master's degree in 1994 and his doctorate in 1997. Since 1998 he has been teaching Modern Greek at the University of Sofia. In 2001 he became professor of Byzantine Philology there, and in 2004 he received his habilitation in medieval history. Since 2006 he has been teaching there as full professor for Byzantine Philology and Paleography .

His research area is particularly the history of the monasteries on Mount Athos .
