Kirk Monteux (born January 20, 1965 ) is a German composer and music producer .

Life

Kirk Monteux is a great-grandson of the conductor Pierre Monteux and a grandson of the flautist Claude Monteux. He continues the musical tradition of his family with the artistic possibilities of modern composition techniques. The trained classical guitarist, born in 1965, met artists from the Berlin School in the 80s and from then on was fascinated by the possibilities of electronic music.

In the 1990s, Kirk Monteux composed and produced music for computer games in his recording studio in Frankfurt in addition to theater and film music, especially for the Japanese market with some titles for the Dance Dance Revolution (GDR), such as B. Get up'n Move under the band name S&K.

With his album Via Lucis , Kirk Monteux returns to his musical roots. He was also inspired by the painter and sculptor Siegfried Speckhardt. In 2004 a DVD was released with an audio-visual implementation of the Speckhardt works.

"Via Lucis" combines the classical guitar with the atmospheric sound structures of modern synthesizers , supported among others by the pianist Matthias Frey on the concert grand. The orchestral elements and rhythmic structures of the twelve tracks are reminiscent of a mixture of Vangelis and Andreas Vollenweider .
