Kirsty McKay

Kirsty McKay (* in England ) is a British writer in the field of youth literature .

Life

Kirsty McKay was born and raised in North East England. She trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and then worked as a stage actress for several years. She then ran her own small theater as a producer . During this time she began to write plays for children.

In 2008 she was discovered as a promising new writer by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators . As a result, works by McKay have been published in the annual anthology Undiscovered Voices . In 2011 her first book Undead was published . In 2012 its sequel Unfed was published. She also continues to write for theaters in the UK and North America .

She is married and has two daughters. She now lives with her family in Boston , Massachusetts .
