Kisoro is a city in southwest Uganda at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes near the border with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with 11,328 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Kisoro district of the same name .
The city has a small airfield. The tourism to the mountain gorillas in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in the Virunga Mountains is economically important .
Road connections exist to Muko , Ruhengeri in Rwanda and Rutushuru in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
