Kissing Spine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kissing spine , roughly in English "kissing spinous processes ", is a disease of the horse's back. The spinous processes of the spine are so close to each other that they touch each other when the horse moves and rub over time. The processes from the 10th thoracic vertebra to the 4th lumbar vertebra are usually affected . A comparable disease in humans is Baastrup's disease (kissing spine disease).

Symptoms

The horse has back pain, which means that it walks stiffly or with imprecise tact, is not rideable and may be afraid of being put on the saddle. However, this disease can only be correctly diagnosed with an X-ray . The disease has different stages. Sometimes a change in training can keep the horse painless and therefore usable.

Law

If a horse that suffers from kissing spine is sold without notifying the buyer, the buyer can demand that the purchase contract be reversed.
