Károly Kiszely
Károly Kiszely (* 1953 , Hungary ) is a conservationist , “ dropout ”, environmental journalist and essayist , green thought leader, civil rights activist , former member and publicist of the liberal resistance and the “ samizdat ” movement in Hungary 1981–1989.
Life
Kiszely was the first known conscientious objector in Hungary to refuse military service for reasons of conscience (not as a member of a small church), which is why he served a prison sentence from 1976 to 1979. Kiszely initiated community service and the abolition of general military service in Hungary and in Eastern Europe . He is considered one of the pioneers of the green thought in Hungary ( German Güne Meditationen , Independent Samizdat Verlag ABC, 1985; basic knowledge of environmental protection - but different, Verlag 3. Part, 1995) and was the initiator of the institution of the “Ombudsman of Coming Generations in the Hungarian Parliament “(Parliament's environmental advocate) as well as co-founder and coordinator of the initiative for a national park Őrség (in the border triangle Austria-Hungary-Slovenia, together with the mycologist Zagyva Tibor).
Kiszely has 5 children and is divorced. He currently lives, writes and takes photos in a forest house in the border triangle Austria-Hungary-Slovenia and has several horses and other animals.
