Kitaiwate-gun (Iwate)

Kitaiwate ( Japanese 北 岩手 郡 , - gun , dt. "North Iwate") was a district in the Japanese prefecture of Iwate .
history
In 1887, Iwate County was split into a northern section (Kitaiwate County) and a southern section ( Minamiiwate County ).
On April 1, 1889, the district of Kitaiwate is divided into one town municipality ( Machi / Chō ) and 10 villages / rural communities ( Mura ):
- Today to the city of Iwate : Numakunai ( 沼 宮内 町 , -machi ), Midō ( 御堂 村 , -mura ), Kawaguchi ( 川口 村 , -mura ), Ikkatai ( 一 方井村 , -mura ).
- Today to Morioka : Shibutami ( 渋 民 村 , -mura ), Makibori ( 巻 堀 村 , -mura ).
- Today on Hachimantai : Ōbuke ( 大 更 村 , -mura ), Tairadate ( 平 舘 村 ), Dendō ( 田 頭村 , -mura ), Terada ( 寺 田村 , -mura ), Matsuo ( 松尾 村 , -mura ).
In 1896 Kitaiwate and Minamiiwate are again merged to form Iwate County.
