The Kivijärvi (literally "rock lake") is a lake in the Finnish landscape of central Finland .
The lake has an area of 154 km², a length of 50 km and a maximum width of 10 km. It lies at a height of 130.8 m and has a maximum depth of 45 m. The catchment area of the lake covers 1739 km².
The lake has two outflows: a 2.5 km long canal leads most of the water to the Hilmon hydroelectric power station, which is located on Vuosjärvi . The natural runoff of the Kivijärvi leads over the Pudasjärvi and Hilmonjoki to Vuosjärvi. This in turn is drained to Muuruejärvi and on to Keitele . The Kivijärvi is thus in the catchment area of the Päijänne and its drainage Kymijoki .
The place of the same name Kivijärvi is located on the west bank of the lake. At the southern end of the lake is the place Kannonkoski . Kinnula is about 4 km west of the northern end of the lake.
