The Kjálkafjörður is a fjord in western Iceland .
The fjord is located on the north bank of the Breiðafjörður on the part of the Westfjords . The Vestfjarðavegur rounded to 15 km around the fjord. Since 2014, a dam and a new bridge have shortened the route.
The Kjálkafjörður lies between the peninsulas Harðarnes (west) and Litlanes, which rise up to a height of 571 m. (Dt. In this inlet the stream Skipta part flow ) with the Skiptárfoss is the boundary between the municipalities Reykhóladistrict and Vesturbyggð . This is also the border between the Austur- and Vestur-Barðastrandarsýsla districts .
