Sound surface composition

Sound surface compositions are modern compositions that place sound and sound surfaces in the center of attention. Sound surface compositions are characterized by chord bands and superimposed chords as well as vertical and horizontal tone connections in the form of clusters and glissandi . The techniques of sound surface compositions convey an unusual sound impression. The most important representatives include György Ligeti ( Atmosphères , 1961), Friedrich Cerha ( Spiegel , 1960–72), Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Górecki .
