Sound design is a term coined by Luigi Nono and Karlheinz Stockhausen and describes the sound engineering player at concerts. The sound mixer is an instrument for the sound director, just as the piano is for the pianist or the clarinet is for the clarinetist. And for this very reason it is perfectly normal for him to read a score while pushing the controls on the mixer.

The activity of sound director combines the professions of sound engineer , sound engineer , musician and accordingly requires diverse training.
