The Klann mechanism or the Klann coupling gear is a coupling gear . The Klann coupling gear is z. B. used for running robots and often compared with the Jansen coupling gear ( Strandbeest ) by Theo Jansen and the Chebyshev lambda mechanism . The Klann coupling mechanism, like this, can be viewed and used as an approximate straight line guide .

Comparison with the Jansen coupling gear

Unlike the Jansen coupling gear, the Klann coupling gear can be parameterized and thus more flexibly adapted. Furthermore, it is more robust against manufacturing tolerances. For example, non-optimal lengths lead to a sub-optimal step, but less quickly to jamming.

Another advantage of the Klann coupling mechanism is that it has fewer legs and joints than the Jansen coupling mechanism.
