The bascule bridge in Cuxhaven over the Schleusenpriel at the Zollkaje between Deichstrasse and Fährstrasse is under the protection of historical monuments in Lower Saxony and is included in the list of architectural monuments in Cuxhaven .

history

The bascule bridge from 1955 is a Dutch bridge made of steel and a technical monument . It replaced an earlier swing bridge . The executing company was the MAN plant in Gustavsburg . Dutch bridges have high counterweights.

The bridge has a passage width of 19 m and a lane width of 6 m. It opens in 47 seconds and 3700 times a year as well as daily between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. as required. In 2015 the bridge was renovated and the mechanics were modernized with hydraulics .
The bridge is operated by the City-Marina Cuxhaven .

A small pedestrian bascule bridge from 1903 was 100 m up the tide.
