Class Richard Sievers

Klas Richard Sievers (born June 21, 1852 in Helsinki ; † November 9, 1931 ibid) was a Finnish doctor and archiatrist .

He came from a Stockholm family with German roots.

As General Director of the Medical Works , he made a major contribution to sparing Finland from the cholera epidemics that raged in Russia from 1908 to 1910. A number of new hospitals were built under his leadership. Sievers was a pioneer in the Finnish fight against tuberculosis .

He was the grandfather of the author Olof Lagercrantz and great-grandfather of the actress Marika Lagercrantz .
