Klaus-Peter Matschke

Klaus-Peter Matschke (born May 14, 1938 in Liegnitz ) is a German Byzantinist and medieval historian.

Life

From 1944 to 1945 he attended the Liegnitz elementary school and from 1945 to 1947 in Rabishau . In 1947 he moved to Tilkerode . From 1947 to 1952 he attended the Tilkerode elementary school and from 1952 to 1956 the secondary school in Hettstedt and Mansfeld , graduating from high school. From 1957 to 1962 he studied history and classical philology at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . From 1962 to 1967 he was a research assistant and lecturer in general history of the Middle Ages. From 1967 to 1969 he was a senior research assistant at the Institute for General History, Department of General History of the Middle Ages. From 1969 to 1977 he was a senior research assistant at the chair in the general history of feudalism until 1500. In 1977 he became professor for the history of the Middle Ages at the history section of the University of Leipzig. In 1986 he became professor for general history of the Middle Ages at the history section of the University of Leipzig. From 1992 to 2003 he taught as C3 professor for Medieval and Byzantine History at the University of Leipzig. In 2003 he retired.
