Klaus Barth

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klaus Barth (* 1948 or 1949; † 2006 in Long Beach ) was a German swimmer who was active in the late 1960s.

At the German Swimming Championships in 1967 he won the title over 200 m breasts.

Eighth in the world rankings, he was sent to the US swimming center Santa Clara for four months to prepare for the Olympic Games. The hoped-for success did not materialize, however: in 1968 he was only sixth at the German championships and thus missed out on the Olympics.

In the 1970s he went to the United States, where he worked as a coach for the Long Beach swim club.

In the 1980s he took part in the Ironman Hawaii several times . He finished fourth in 1986 in 9:03:42 hours.

Klaus Barth died in 2006, leaving behind his wife and three children.
