Klaus Becker (musician)

Klaus Becker (* 1953 in Cologne ) is a German oboist and professor at the Hanover University of Music and Theater .

Life

From 1970 to 1974 Klaus Becker studied with Helmut Hucke at the Cologne University of Music . Helmut Winschermann and Heinz Holliger were among his later teachers . At the age of 18 he was appointed solo oboist of the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne by Günter Wand . From 1986 to 1990 he was principal oboist in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under Sir Colin Davis .

In 1978 Klaus Becker founded the Linos Ensemble , which has since given concerts worldwide as a mixed chamber ensemble. More than 30 CDs document his creative power, including the recordings of the oboe concerts by Bernd Alois Zimmermann , Hans Werner Henze and Witold Lutosławski .

Since 1990 Klaus Becker has been professor of oboe at the Hanover University of Music and Theater. His method of balanced intonation through a flexibly deployed wind support has shaped an entire generation of students. More than 35 of his former students are now working in excellent positions in European orchestras.
