Klaus Dieter Kern (born January 14, 1938 in Berlin ) is a church musician and was provost cantor of the Goslar provost until 2003 . In 1965 he founded the Goslarer Kantorei, which is now managed by his successor Gerald de Vries.

Life

Kern studied organ playing with Hans Heintze and Michael Schneider at the University of Music in Berlin . There he passed the state examination for church musicians in 1960 . In 1965 he was appointed provost choirmaster at the Marktkirche in Goslar , where he founded the Goslarer Kantorei with 120 members at times. He gave organ concerts at home and abroad and performed the organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach and made a number of records and CD recordings. In 1981 he was awarded the plaque of honor by the city of Goslar.

Klaus Dieter Kern has been church music director since 1989 .

Klaus Dieter Kern is married to the church musician Ulrike Kern and has three sons and a daughter.
