Klaus Herzer

Klaus Herzer (born March 23, 1932 in Göppingen ) is a German painter and wood cutter .

Life

Klaus Herzer was born on March 23, 1932 in Göppingen, Baden-Württemberg. Klaus Herzer spent his childhood and youth in Bad Waldsee and Bad Saulgau in Upper Swabia. He received important impulses and encouragement in his artistic work from the drawing teacher and painter Otto Lauber in the Saulgau teacher’s secondary school and from the metal sculptor Julius Schramm in the Esslingen workshop.

    • Since then, wood and metal prints as well as monotypes have been the focus of his work.
  • 1992 Awarded the Citizen Medal of the City of Mössingen
  • 2001 Establishment of the Klaus Herzer Art Foundation, opening of the Klaus Herzer Woodcut Museum in Öschingen
  • 2007 Award of the honor plaque of the city of Mössingen
