Saint-Germain-des-Champs is a French commune with 360 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the arrondissement of Avallon in the Yonne department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . The municipality belongs to the canton of Avallon (until 2015: canton of Quarré-les-Tombes ). The inhabitants are called Campigermanois .

Saint-Germain-des-Champs is located about 50 kilometers south-southeast of Auxerre am Chalaux in the Morvan Regional Nature Park ( French Parc naturel régional du Morvan ). Saint-Germain-des-Champs is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Avallon in the north, Magny in the northeast, Saint-Brancher in the east, Quarré-les-Tombes in the southeast, Marigny-l'Église in the south, Chastellux-sur-Cure in the southwest, Saint-André-en-Morvan to the west and south-west and Iceland to the north-west.
