Sainte-Vertu is a French commune with 90 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Yonne department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (before 2016 Bourgogne ) in eastern France . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Avallon and the canton of Chablis ( Noyers until 2015 ).

Sainte-Vertu is located about 29 kilometers east-southeast of Auxerre on the Serein . Sainte-Vertu is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Poilly-sur-Serein in the north and west, Yrouerre in the northeast, Môlay in the east, Annay-sur-Serein in the east and southeast, Noyers in the southeast, Nitry in the south and Aigremont in the southwest.
