Chamoux is a French commune with 101 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Yonne department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (before 2016 Bourgogne ) in eastern France . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Avallon and the canton of Joux-la-Ville (until 2015 Vézelay ). The inhabitants are called chamoutins .

geography

Chamoux is about 50 kilometers south-southeast of Auxerre . Chamoux is surrounded by the neighboring communities Asnières-sous-Bois in the north and west, Vézelay in the east and north-east, La Maison-Dieu in the south and south-east and Brèves in the south and south-west.

The community is located on Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historic " Way of the Pilgrims in France ".
