As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the area of ​​the three municipalities Arcy-sur-Cure , Bois-d'Arcy and Merry-sur-Yonne was assigned to the Arrondissement Avallon from the Arrondissement Auxerre .

Instead , the area of ​​the 13 municipalities of Béru , Beugnon , Butteaux , Carisey , Fleys , Lasson , Neuvy-Sautour , Nitry , Percey , Poilly-sur-Serein , Sormery , Soumaintrain and Villiers-Vineux changed to the Arrondissement Auxerre from the Arrondissement Avallon .
