Arthonnay is a French village with 152 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Avallon and the canton Tonnerrois (until 2015 Cruzy-le-Châtel ).

Arthonnay is about 51 kilometers east-northeast of Auxerre . Arthonnay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Balnot-le-Grange in the north, Bragelogne-Beauvoir in the northeast, Channes in the east, Vertault in the east and southeast, Channay in the southeast, Cruzy-le-Châtel in the south, Villon in the south and southwest, Rugny in the Southwest, Trichey and Quincerot to the west and Villiers-le-Bois to the northwest.
