Tanlay Castle

Tanlay is a French municipality with 998 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Avallon and the canton of Tonnerrois .

geography

The municipality is located about 40 kilometers east of Auxerre on the banks of the Armançon River and the Canal de Bourgogne, which runs parallel here . In addition to the main town, it also includes the larger towns of Commissey and Saint-Vinnemer .

The municipality is located on the Paris – Marseille railway line and has a leisure port on the Bourgogne Canal .

Attractions

The Tanlay castle belonged to the family of Admiral Coligny , then the Mazarin related Superintendent of Finance Michel Parti Celli d'Hémery before it came into the possession of Thevenin family in the 17th century.
