Vireaux is a French commune with 131 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Yonne department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (before 2016 Bourgogne ) in eastern France . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Avallon and the canton Tonnerrois (until 2015 Tonnerre ). The inhabitants are called Virotins .

Vireaux is located about 37 kilometers east-southeast of Auxerre on the Armançon . Vireaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lézinnes in the north and east, Pacy-sur-Armançon in the south and south-east, Sambourg in the south and west and Tonnerre in the north-west.
