Sainte-Magnance is a French village with 477 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ); it belongs to the Arrondissement of Avallon and the Canton of Chablis (until 2015 Canton of Guillon ).

Sainte-Magnance is about 53 kilometers southeast of Auxerre on the edge of the Morvan . Sainte-Magnance is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-en-Terre-Plaine in the north, Sauvigny-le-Beuréal in the north and northeast, Vieux-Château in the east and northeast, Sincey-lès-Rouvray in the southeast, Rouvray in the south, Bussières to the south and south-west, Saint-Brancher to the west and south-west and Cussy-les-Forges to the west and north-west.

The former route nationale 6 (today's D606) runs through the municipality .
