Provency is about 50 kilometers southeast of Auxerre on the Vau de Bouche River . Provency is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Colombe in the north and northeast, Athie in the east, Sauvigny-le-Bois in the south, Étaule in the west and south-west and Thory in the north-west.
