Ebersbach (Sachs) train station ; Reception building with platform roofing (No. 29), northern storage shed (No. 19), south of the water tower station and a long goods shed (No. 31, today apartments) | Bahnhofstrasse 19, 29, 31 (map) |
1868 (passenger station); 1929 (water tower); 1928–31 goods handling (goods shed) |
Zittau - Bischofswerda railway line ; Signal boxes including technical equipment abandoned in 2009, significant in terms of building history, railway history and technology history.
About the water tower: At the end of the 1920s, the Saxon-Bohemian border station Ebersbach-Georgswalde had to be enlarged due to the large volume of traffic and goods. In this context, a water tower was built to supply the water cranes in the station area. The approx. 22 m high, polygonal reinforced concrete skeleton building in the form language typical of the time began operations in 1929. The rhythm of the otherwise unadorned plastered facade is provided by three circumferential window levels with lying rectangular window formats in the middle of the tower shaft, below the slightly cantilevered container level and below the eaves. The wall surfaces between the eight concrete pillars are filled in with bricks, the top is formed by a flat concrete tent roof. Concrete was also used for the interior work. In addition to the concrete staircase, the 100 m³ water tank with a flat bottom is made of reinforced concrete. The water tower has been preserved in its original state, but is no longer in operation. It illustrates the historical development of the Ebersbach train station into a major cargo transshipment point between the two world wars and is therefore of local and railway historical importance. Its formal and structural design as reinforced concrete make it also significant in terms of building and technology history. Platform roofing with cast iron pillars. The southern long goods shed has also been preserved in its original form in the building and has also been renovated on the railway side in accordance with the preservation of historical monuments. New goods handling: the German goods floor had nine, the Czechoslovak four hatches. Station built in 1873 as a joint border station with the Bohemian Georgswalde. On November 1, 1873, the Ebersbach – Prague and Ebersbach – Löbau line, and exactly one year later the Ebersbach – Seifhennersdorf line, was inaugurated. Signal boxes B3 (1928/29) and W4 (1890), both with electromechanical signal box technology: demolished in 2009. 1868 first train station; Viaduct Bautzener Straße completed in 1873; Reinforced concrete water tower 1929; 1936 to 39 new exterior plaster; May 23, 1925 signal boxes 1 and 2; 1928/29 signal box 3; 1928–31 new goods handling |
