Soumaintrain is a French municipality with 218 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Saint-Florentin (until 2015 Flogny-la-Chapelle ).

Soumaintrain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Racines in the north, Courtaoult in the east, Les Croûtes in the southeast, Butteaux in the south, Germigny in the southwest, Beugnon in the west and Neuvy-Sautour in the northwest.
