Pourrain is a French commune with 1,403 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Yonne in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté (2015: Burgundy ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Auxerre and the canton of Cœur de Puisaye (until 2015: canton of Toucy ). The inhabitants call themselves the Pulveriniens .
geography
Pourrain is located in the Puisaye countryside , about twelve kilometers west-southwest of Auxerre . Pourrain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beauvoir in the north and northwest, Lindry in the north and northeast, Chevannes in the east, Escamps in the southeast, Diges in the south and Parly in the west.
